Island of Korcula - Places to Visit

Blato

Linden Tree Alley
Park
Church Square

A historical place with an interesting old center dated before XIV century where various cultural events take place. A perfect destination to visit and to watch the old sword dance Kumpanjija, happening very often during summertime. Kumpanjija is a complex dance with swords, performed to the sound of mišnjica (a type of bagpipe) and the performance is honoring the brave men of Blato who stood against the attackers that were invading Blato many centuries ago. A long linden tree alley is also a symbol of Blato, with shades of linden trees making it a great place for a walk. A centuries long winemaking tradition shaped various wine varieties that can be tasted in a local wine tasting corner - a perfect spot to have a rest after an afternoon walk through Blato.

Vela Luka

Vela Luka is a typical Adriatic port where you can taste the traditional fish meals, admire the sunsets while walking on the long seaside promenade and enjoy various summertime music and gastro events. But, if you decide to research it further, there is much more to experience! This is a home to some of the most popular klapa (acapella style) singers and a historical place with a famous archaeological spot, cave Vela spila. Heading out of the town center, you'll find an abandoned fortress Hum on a hill on the southern side, with amazing views to Hvar, Vis and Lastovo. But, a more popular spot out of the town center is surely the islet of Proizd, with famous beaches with a bright turquoise sea which will make a visit to this islet truly memorable experience.

Welcome to the town of Korcula - this remarkable historical spot on the eastern side of the island of Korcula is one of the highlights of this area. Experience the vibe of the town encircled by city walls and towers and with remarkable churches, public buildings, squares, streets, everything valuable to take a look how architectural masters from Middle ages to Renaissance expressed themselves in stone. Foodies will enjoy a rich gastro offer in restaurants in town center and in Korcula's surroundings, but there is nothing like a visit to some of the local wine tasting corners and having a glass of wine when the sun goes down over this historical spot.
